Painting models and miniatures is an art that requires precision, patience and, of course, the right materials. One of those essential materials is acrylic thinner. Read below to learn all about this product and why it is essential for your projects.
Acrylic thinner is a liquid designed to modify the consistency of acrylic paints. When added to paint, it makes the paint more fluid and manageable without losing its intensity or adhesion. It is especially useful when you want to apply thin or transparent layers.
Improved Application
Thanks to its ability to dilute paint, Acrylic Thinner facilitates the application of thin, even coats, reducing the risk of brush marks or undesired texture.
Maintains Adhesion
Despite thinning acrylic paint, it does not compromise the adhesion of the paint. In fact, it can often improve adhesion, increasing the durability of a paintjob.
Increases Drying Time
Acrylic Thinner increases the drying time of a paint, giving you more working time and allowing you to work more closely on details and achieving smooth colour blends directly on a miniature or model.
The process is simple:
1. Shake the bottle of thinner well.
2. On a palette, mix your acrylic paint with a small amount of thinner.
3. Test the consistency of the paint on a spare piece or small area of the project.
4. If necessary, adjust by adding more paint or thinner until the desired consistency is achieved.
• It is important not to add too much thinner. Adding too much may reduce the opacity of the paint and make a controlled application difficult.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
